A bloody sunset

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

A bloody sun sets

On this terrible day

When the flames roared

And swept all the houses away

Yes, a bloody sun sets

On this mournful day

When the creatures were burned

And wept where they lay

A sign of the times

And what's yet to come?

When the forests have turned

To hot plains in the sun?

What we do now

Is for our daughters and sons

Who have no time for crawling

They'll start off at a run

Their nonsensical leaders

Spout cheap nasty politics

And have sentenced them all

To nothing but rhetoric

Any action is scarce

It's so light on the ground

When the people need hope

There's none to be found

But Scotty's been charged

With a duty of care

Will he rise to the challenge

Or lead us into despair?

None of us knows

Only one thing's for sure

If he don't shape the heck up

We'll show him the door!

The time is upon us

There's no second to waste

It's time to make change

And we must make it posthaste!

Oh, a bloody sun sets

On this sorrowful day

When the fires did rip

Our hearts and forests away.
